As energy demand continues to escalate, the environment continues to be overwhelmed by greenhouse gases and smog.
The goal of sustainable energy must also promote a green solution. Alternative energy development means diversity, new opportunities, and a desire to always demand better.
The Benefits of Alternative Fuels
Alternative fuels provide solutions to environmental and energy security
issues associated with conventional fossil fuels. Motor vehicle emissions
such as carbon dioxide and nitrous oxides have been identified as major
contributors to the increasing smog and global warming problems. Fossil
fuel availability is also becoming an issue. Since OPEC controls about
65% of the world's crude oil, alternative fuels provide energy security
for non-OPEC countries. At current consumption rates it is predicted
that global oil production will peak between the years 2010 and 2020,
after which production will decrease and prices will increase
significantly.
In the past, UWAFT has participated in ethanol and propane vehicle challenges.
