Phil is currently persuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering with the Welding Specialization. He has been lead programmer on the vehicle's touchscreen Human Machine Interface and also provides programming support for the controls group. Phil's main areas of interest are materials and joining technologies. He also grew up next to a farm.

Devin is in his 3rd year at Waterloo pursuing his BASc in Electrical Engineering. He is passionate about the environment and renewable energy as well as having a keen interest in the politics and economics of technology and business. Originally from Guelph, Ontario, Devin has been with UWAFT since summer of 2006 in all areas of the team. He is interested in furthering his education to a graduate level in business and engineering.

Hung is a recent mechanical engineering graduate who joined the team for the 4th year of competition. He's specialized in mechanical upgrades of the vehicle and has put many a long hour in the garage.

Koichi is a recently graduated mechanical engineer who joined the team in the fourth year of competition. His role has been diverse but his main project was to improve the efficiency of the fuel cell cooling system with an emphasis on air flow through the vehicle.

Born and raised in Guelph, Gurhari typically spends his spare time, researching for alternative fuels technology and applications. Gurhari specializes on the team in cooling loops, component integration, and an around ideas man. If you want to find him, he's conveniently located in the garage, where he can be found sleeping.

Originally from Cannington, he is a ridiculously good-looking gentleman, who specializes in mechanical integration and late-night quick fixes. He is currently in his second year of mechanical engineering. He spends the majority of his time on his pick-up truck. Dan is also from a pig farm.

Aubrey is currently a 3rd year student pursuing a B.ASc in Electrical Engineering and has been a member of the UWAFT team since 2006. She has worked on green building designs at Smith and Andersen and is interested in pursuing a future in green design consulting. Aubrey participating int he CEEC conference at Queens where she met Jim Harris. Her interests include Dragon Boat and snowboarding.

Julie is currently a 1st year student in the Science and Business program at Waterloo and has been a great addition to our business team. Originally from Vancouver, she joined the team, because of her interest in environmental technology and hopes to extend her knowledge of alternative fuels.

Julian is in the Science & Business program. He joined UWAFT to learn more about alternative fuels and to be involved in a current issue. Julian's previous experiences include an Ambassadorship with the Science & Business Ambassadors and leading the Plum Pox Project for Laboratory Services Division. Julian enjoys endurance sports and is attempting to qualify for the Boston Marathon.

Brian Tang is a 2nd year Accounting and Financial Management (Public Stream) student from Toronto, Ontario. He has been employed at Canada Post Corporation and American International Group Asia-Pacific. His interests are in software programming, global investments and financial planning. Brian has been with the UWAFT Business Finance Team since September 2005.

Greg arrived in Waterloo from his hometown of St. Stephen, NB to study Mechanical Engineering. He has recently completed his undergraduate studies and will be moving on to work in wind pwer development. A member of UWAFT since 2004, Greg has organized and attended many events to increase the awareness of UWAFT, hydrogen fuel cells and renewable energy. He also joined the technical team to help with the design of the regenerative braking.

Chris MacDonald came to Waterloo from Wolfe Island Ontario, and is pursuing a degree in Computer Engineering. He joined UWAFT in summer 2005, and has been working hard since then to bring many new and exciting features to UWAFT's website.

Jennifer Marshall received her BASc in Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo in 2004. She is currently a PhD candidate and her research focuses on the design and optimization of power electronics and powertrain topologies for fuel cell hybrid vehicles. She is the electrical lead for Challenge X and is responsible for the design, construction, and testing of the 65kW boost DC/DC converter.

Kuo-Feng received a BASc in Electrical Engineering with double Options in Computer Engineering and Mechatronics from the University of Waterloo in 2004. He is finishing an MASc at Waterloo in mechatronic optimization of vehicle dynamics. His diverse experience in hardware and software is being applied at UWAFT to ensure smooth integration of automotive embedded and power systems.

Hailing from the Ontario farmlands of Caledon, Dan came to the University of Waterloo in pursuit of an undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering. Dan is in his third year of school and is currently employed by the Engineering Department as a first year Teaching Assistant. Dan is presently working on integrating a traction control strategy for the fuel cell vehicle.

Marty is currently pursuing a BASc in Mechanical Engineering and has been an integral member of the UWAFT team since joining in September 2005. His mechanical expertise is enhanced by his 10 years of field experience as a Licensed Automotive Service Technician. Marty aspires to research and work in the field of alternative fuel technologies, and through the implementation of hybrid vehicles and new fuel alternatives, he hopes to design methods to help reduce the green house effect on the planet. Marty is also a volunteer firefighter in the village of Maryhill where he resides.

Sumit, who completed his BASc in Chemical Engineering at the University of Waterloo, is currently a PhD candidate studying the degradation mechanisms of fuel cell components as well as MEA design strategies to minimize degradation while maintaining performance. His fuel cell background extends to work terms with Ballard and Hydrogenics as well as research projects on alternate means of hydrogen production. Sumit has also been involved with community groups such as Engineers without borders and the Canadian Mental Health Association. On UWAFT, Sumit is working on reducing the power consumption and weight of the vehicle's 12V systems.

Paul is currently a candidate for a Bachelor of Mathematics in Actuarial Science from the University of Waterloo. Paul was one of two Radar on the UWAFT Challenge X team and joined UWAFT since in April 2004.

Graduating in Systems Design Engineering (BASc), Mark has completed a Masters in Management Science at the University of Waterloo. His research in applied optimization focuses on resource planning and scheduling. Mark's other interests in automotive manufacturing, education and graphic design, have made him a valuable member in the UWAFT family. Mark was the web designer and administrator for the team's website as well as the lead for outreach public relations.
